0

Chances are that you’ll be watching the big game from home this year, given that it’s hard to gather in large groups these days. If you’re planning to watch the game from home this year and need a few ideas for quick and easy snacks, we’ve got you covered!

Easy foods for the big game

Check out our team’s list of favorite football party recipes! Most of these are quick and they’re all easy to make!

Chicken Wings

There are SO many good recipes that you could try for this! In our house, we like to grill our chicken wings, seasoned with salt and pepper. We each have our preferred sauce on the side for dipping. We’re big fans of buffalo style chicken wings, garlic parmesan wings and of course, teriyaki wings too!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

This dip comes highly recommended by several members of our contributor team! It’s a fast, easy and tasty addition to any football party!  Find the recipe here.

Beer Cheese Pull Apart Pretzel Rolls

These ooey-gooey pull apart pretzel rolls are a yearly tradition for Superbowl parties and tailgate parties throughout each football season! You can find the recipe here.

Little Smokies

You can cook Little Smokies in tons of different ways. Our favorite recipe is simple: Open the pack of weenies, pour in a bottle of your favorite bbq sauce, or grape jelly and mustard ( a southern staple!) dump them in the crock pot and heat em up!  It’s that simple and they are delicious! If you’re not a fan of the crockpot variety, try wrapping the Little Smokies in bacon, sprinkling with brown sugar and baking until the bacon is cooked and the sugar is bubbly!

Meatballs

Here’s another fast and easy crock pot appetizer to add to the buffet. Dump frozen meatballs into crockpot- add your favorite barbecue sauce and heat! Another simple, yet yummy appetizer to snack on during the game!

Veggie Tray

It’s super easy to buy a premade veggie tray or pick up a few of your favorite veggies. Pair them with hummus or ranch dip and you have a healthy side to accompany the other not-so-healthy but oh so good foods for your big game line up!

Chunky Gaucamole

Who doesn’t love guacamole?! Well, I know several people…but if you’re like me, you love this stuff! Thanks to our contributor, Heather, for sharing this yummy recipe with us! Just add chips and you’ll be set for the party!

Chunky Guacamole (makes 2 ½ to 3 cups)

3 medium, ripe avocados

2 Tablespoons minced onion

1 medium garlic clove, minced

1 small jalapeno minced

(Hint! Want your dip extra spicy? Leave in the “ribs”(the white part) and seeds. For a milder version, trim and discard.)

¼ cup minced fresh cilantro leaves (washed and dried before chopping)

½ teaspoon ground cumin (Optional for those unlucky few that have an aversion to the spice!)

2 Tablespoons lime juice (fresh squeezed is best, but bottled will work!)

¼ salt, plus more to taste

  1. Halve one of the avocados, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Mash the flesh lightly with the onion, garlic, jalapeno, cilantro, ¼ teaspoon salt, and cumin (if using) with the tines of a fork until just combined.
  2. Halve, pit, and cube the remaining 2 avocados (Quick 44 second How-To plus Tips on selecting the best ones. How to Cut and Peel an Avocado). Add the cubes to the bowl with the mashed avocado mixture.
  3. Sprinkle the lime juice over the diced avocado and mix the entire contents of the bowl lightly with a fork until combined but still chunky. Adjust the seasonings with salt, if necessary, and serve.
  4. Serve with corn tortilla chips, vegetables, or as an accompaniment to quesadillas or tacos.

Tip: Guacamole can be covered with plastic wrap, pressed directly onto the surface of the mixture (to prevent browning), and refrigerated up to one day. Guacamole dip can be set out at room temp for your spread (but not over 4 hours). Remove plastic wrap directly before serving.

Now, it’s time to go pick up the ingredients you need and get ready for some football! It doesn’t really matter which team wins tonight, you’ll win with these easy recipes!
