If you have been anything like me, the last year has been one of the most stressful ever! One bad habit that I picked up during the craziness of the pandemic was combating stress with alcohol. I am in the midst of a hardcore nutrition plan with a kick butt trainer/nutritionist currently. Hence, that bad habit had to be kicked to the curb because every calorie counts.

I decided that I would figure out how I could still participate in the fun fruity drinks at the pool! Below are my favorite mocktails I discovered along the way. ALL are calorie free and low carb!

MOSCOW MULE

ICE + 1 OZ LIME JUICE + 1/2 CUP DIET GINGER ALE + 2 OZ CLUB SODA + SLICE OF LIME

This drink is fantastic! You can even add a few inches of fresh ginger for a more robust flavor.

MILLIONAIRE SOUR

ICE + 2 OZ CRYSTAL LIGHT LEMONADE + 2 OZ DIET GINGER ALE + SLICE OF LEMON

This is very sweet and tasty! My kids enjoy this one. The recipe even suggests a splash of sugar free Cherry syrup, which I have no doubt would make this even more fantastic.

MINT JULEP

FRESH MINT + ICE + 1 CUP SUGAR FREE LEMON LIME SODA + 1/2 CUP DIET GINGER ALE + SQUEEZE THE JUICE FROM HALF A LEMON

This drink has a very light flavor. I recommend to add quite a bit of the fresh mint, and be sure to cut it and crush it to release more of the flavor. This is also a very kid friendly drink.

Going out to eat and wanting a fun alcohol and sugar free drink you can get almost anywhere? Just ask for club soda and mint.

Being alcohol or sugar free does not have to be boring!

Other drink ideas for mocktails include flavoring your water with various Crystal Light flavors or sugar free water enhancers (squirt bottles or individual pouches of powder). Just be sure to read the nutrition label so you know you are choosing a calorie free version. You can put it in a cute glass with a lot of ice, and add a slice of citrus peel as a garnish, and others will be none the wiser it is alcohol and calorie free!

The one I was most excited to try was the Margarita, but I could not find the Crystal Light Margarita flavor. I challenge you to find that flavor and try it for me!
